It's right up there with the best of the free synth and effect plugin giveaways over the past year and the best of the Piano based giveaways for many years. There's definitely a lot here to inspire creativity.and whilst the gold-ish knob theme of the editing options may get tiring after a while, I know just the visual tool to fix that, but otherwise it's visually pleasing like entering different rooms. Editing / FX Editing/ a Preset screen, auditioning, even playing the piano keys with the mouse I just discovered.

The effects can be as subtle or as wacky as hell if you push them to their limits and you can turn a piano into a completely different sounding instrument like something from an alien movie which is pretty weird all within the eco system which is sort of semi-modular. It can be extremely crisp without high frequency noise or very subdued or anywhere in between, it's almost as if it's got it's own emotional character. I didn't really have time to really sit down and explore this in the early hours properly last night but the more I've played with it today the more I've enjoyed listening to it as I play. On a side note, Studio One 13 is a long way away
I've never been keen on anything electric myself in regard to piano's.

I generally use the Piano Light patch of Presence XT which gives me all the controls I need including articulations.Ĭhoosing a type of piano sound should be easy, you either like the sound or you don't. It's been about a year since I last looked at it, so I can't recall if it's an issue with Presence XT itself or a particular patch. Personally I find Studio One's Piano's absolutely fine for my needs although I do wish Presonus would fix the velocity issue mentioned asap. A lot of the FX provided with the plugin is for the most part unnecessary, particularly with Studio One 3, if you were a Reaper owner/user then that aspect is probably more desirable. From looking at the CGI graphics and listening, the thing that is missing with that set from what I can see, are the articulation controls and so you will miss the authenticity of a real piano if that's what's you are looking for.
